Max Cane, an “archeo-detectorist,” will give a presentation of history’s treasures hiding just below the surface.
INDIGENOUS LANDS
This event will take place indoors at the Society of New Concord Meeting House at 2689 County Rte. 9, Canaan, N.Y.
Heather Bruegl, Oneida/Stockbridge-Munsee, is a historian and Indigenous Consultant. She will give a presentation titled: “The Original New Yorkers: An Indigenous History of Land.”
(Note: the Canaan Historical Society’s Meeting House will be closed on this weekend.)
KING’S DISTRICT DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATION
Join us for our summer kickoff event! There will be a parade, speeches, historic plaque unveiling and family fun.
We’ll be celebrating the local area’s declaration of independence from Britain made 11 days before the rest of the colonies in 1776.
Canaan Historical Society Annual Meeting (with a presentation about Canaan Shakers)
